When my computer boots up, the following message appears:

OCR AWARE
INSTALL OCR AWARE SUPPORT FOR MICROSOFT OFFICE 97

What does it mean? How do I get rid of this message. Any
help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks

OCR normally stands for OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGIITION and is software used when scanning a text document to turn it into for e.g a Word document so you can edit it instead of just been a bmp or jpg.

I am pressuming you have a scanner and software installed and Office sounds like it wants a plug in or some additional software, ifthe above sounds correct then post details of your scanner and software use for it.

PS: OCR software can be a bit IFFY but give it a try.

Hi MusicMan,
If I'm not mistaken this thread was originally posted in the After Hours section before Pete moved it here http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

peleo pete You said in an earlier post "The After Hours section is for non-techie stuff, once we get here we AIN'T answerin' no more questions".

what this after hours stuff referring to, as I have a disability and I normally don't sleep well at night so sometimes I may post in the middle of the night.

Mark What Pete is refuring to is do not post teck questions in the after hours section of the forum. You can post questions 24/7 about computers problems anywhere else--------But not the after hours section hope this helps you. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
