Hello to all,

My name is Mike, and I seem to be having a problem sending/receiving files through MSN Instant messenger. First a little background:

-I am using the IM on my w2k machine, which is 'behind' my "Internet PC" via a single ethernet cable. The "Internet" computer has an ADSL connection via usb (running WinMe). I can IM people all day, but when I try to send files, or someone attempts to send files to me, the connection is "blocked". I must also note that I have ZA 2.6 firewall in place on my Internet pc. I will first list the computer specs, then explain the steps I have tried...

Specs: (unit 1)
1 AMD Athlon 750MHz (Slot A)
2 PCCHIPS system board w/AMD750 chipset M800LMR (200MHz FSB)
3 640MB PC100/133 RAM
4 Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
5 Phillips 12x8x36 CDRW drive
6 52x generic CDROM
7 S3 Savage 4 Pro Video Card (32MB)
8 Win2K Pro.
9 SiS 900 on board LAN
10 300 Watt Power Supply

More Specs (unit 2): *The Internet connected PC*
1 AMD Duron 800MHz (Socket A)
2 PCCHIPS system board w/SiS Chipset (200MHz FSB)
3 256 PC133 RAM
4 Seagate 17GB 5400RPM Hard Drive (Pri Master)
5 Maxtor 8.4GB 5400RPM Hard Drive (Pri Slave)
6 Western Digital 8x8x32 CDRW
7 Creative 52x CDROM
8 On board video SiS 630/730
9 WinMe
10 SiS 900 on board LAN
11 300 Watt Power supply
12 connected using Efficient Networks SpeedStream 4060 external usb ADSL Modem

Both units are networked via a single ethernet cable (CAT5 twstd pr, RJ45 connectors)

What I've done:
1 first Adjusted the LAN Zone to "Low" in ZA, nothing.
2 Disabled ZA altogether, nothing.
3 Adjusted browser settings in both units (security tab) Internet: medium, Local zone: Low, file transfer still blocked.
4 Disabled MSNIM in the WinMe unit (internet) so W2K could use IM explicitly, still nothing.
5 Adjusted settings for IM in Tools/Options/Connections tab from SOCKS4 (port 1080) to HTTP Proxy (port 80) and used generic ip of 192.168.0.1 for the proxy (WinMe box), the jury is still out on that one. I have to wait until someone IMs me before it works. If there are any other suggestions, I would certainly appreciate it. Everyone here seems like a real cool bunch of folks.

Looking foreward to all your responses, and Thanks in advance!

...Oh, could you tell, I'm a brand new participant?

Mike
