pc freeze and ps2 mouse stop working.

This is my headache. I am using a home built machine with a FIC-PA-2013-v2.0, E-0036 motherboard,stb-agp128 video card,AMD-K6-2-3D 450-mhz cpu,turtle beach sound card, u.s.robotics 56k modem,This system was working fine until I tried to expand my kids game the sims with their new expansion cd the (HOT DATE) the expansion was loaded without any problems, I then tried to to start the game, my machine just stay at the game logo and will not do anything.
From that time on I have to change my display to 800x600 to get any work done, now it freezes the screen and the mouse hides next to the start button on the taskbar.(using 256 mb pc100 ram and win98 se.)
Things that I have tried, changed out the video card to GFORCE 2 mx200, reinstall the via drivers.
WHERE CAN I GO NOW> IS THERE ANY KNOWN PROBELMS WITH THIS MOTHERBOARD.

Ok have you uninstall the hot date, or is corrupted, or have you uninstalled the game and its still in the add/remove program? Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Yes I did uninstall the Hot Date to get my machine to work, I then installed it on my dayghter laptop and the game works fine, just my home built, seems to be the problem.yesterday I ran the DXDIAG test at the run installed, and all the requirements for the game were good.

I hate to say this but you might have to do a total reformat of your harddrive , if you do ,make sure to back up all data.
