After installing zone alarm, i have found that i have some programs trying to connect to internet.
1st problem - after the request of password and having typed it correctly, the first thing the computer does is try to connect to internet, luckly i didn't mark connect automatically. is any way to know which program is trying to make the connection ?
2nd problem - On zone alarm, program, appear some programs trying to make the connection to internet that i don't know; can anybody tell me which is the purpose of the following programs and if i can delete them ? ( without further troubles ? )
- Onflow stub installer 1.15 ( installed in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ONFLOW\UNINSTALL ONFLOW.EXE
- Nettol.exe 1.0.0.1 ( installed in C:\PROGRAMS\CKCENTER\NETINFO\NETINFO.EXE
- RUN A DLL AS AN APP 4.00.950 ( installed in C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE )
- IPC SERVER 1.0.1.7 ( installed in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSIPCSV.EXE
- DISTRIBUITED CON SERVICES 4.71.2900 ( installed in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RPCSS.EXE )

All is installed on a PIII 550 MHz pc with windows 95 B, HD 20 G

Thank you for the help and happy new year.

Ok, I would grab an update to my AV program and also go here (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/index.html) and grab AdAware and run it to see if there is any spyware that is trying to automatically connec to "phone home"....also mark anything that you are unsure of either to ask or never until you find out if it is needed....you can often find info about a program by entering the name in a
Google (http://www.google.com) search.....

onflow.exe Onflow is a Internet company that offers a online advertising program. Not required - uninstall

(I think it can also be called spyware......)

- DISTRIBUITED CON SERVICES 4.71.2900 ( installed in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RPCSS.EXE

Is that Distributed con or com? If its com, It alwaysconnects when I use my printer. It connects whether you say yes, no, or never.

Distributed Com Services you can check No to unless you are on a network.

as mentioned get rid of ONFLOW.

get AVG and AdAware as mjc advised.

Some programs can/will try to actually dial-up immediately rather than wait for you to connect to the web. I think this happened to me with NAV when I had it enabled to check for updates automatically. The other thing you could do to detect the program (with ZA enabled to run at startup) would be to let the program dialup and then it will get listed in ZA under programs and if you then hover over that entry, a tool-tip will show you the path-to and the name of the relevant program.
