RPC stub

I'm having trouble loading game software. I'm getting an error Message [internal error, error number 0x80070725: Incompatible version of the RPC stub]. I've loaded games before without problems. This just started. I've tried two different games by different manufacturers, same error. Reading some forums I find other people having the same problem also. I've checked my systems sound and display drivers(with DXdiag)and all are funtioning normally. I'm running a PC with Windows 98
