Could someone please tell me how to transfer my Outlook folders (Inbox, Deleted Items, and Contacts) from a PC using Windows 98 to a different PC on the network that has Windows 2000 Professional? The only way I have been able to do this was a round-about export to Outlook Express then Export from Outlook Express to a floppy, then take the floppy to the new PC and import to Outlook Express, then Export from Express to Outlook.

There's got to be a better method! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know why you can't just export to a file and save it in My Documents and then import form there to OutLook. Of something like that.

You would copy all files from the Outlook folder of one machine to the Outlook folder of the other. Then open the outlook profile for that user and make sure the properties for the "personel folder" (path, file name) are correct. (Open the control panel and click the mail icon. On the "services" page highlight "personel folder" and click properties. You would do the same for all "personel" settings.) If the information is wrong, you can either rename the outlook files and move then to the correct folder or delete and recreate the services for the user's mail profile.

Here's an example of where the Outlook folder will be located on an Windows 2000 computer.

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Both versions of Outlook should be the same before you begin and if any "mail" file is corrupt the above method will fail.

Good Luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
