View Full Version : Scrolling out of control on Windows programs

For the last few days, whenever I use Internet Explorer, Word, Microsoft Help, anything at all with scroll bars, I have a problem with automatic scrolling. That's all I can say. The scroll bar just goes up and down of its own accord. Sometimes, in IE the page will automatically go back to the last viewed page also. (it's done it a couple of times while I'm typing this)
Anyone know what the problem might be? I have had Windows ME and Office 2000 installed for at least 6 months and no problems up to now. I've run Scandisk and Norton Antivirus and it's still happening.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Jiggy

Hiya!
Could be one of two things:
1. I agree with Jiggy - try a different mouse - the scroll whell could be hosed
2. Your machine might be 'owned'- i.e a hacker may be connected and playing with you. If it does not happen when you are not on the Net, then you can assume this. Go to www.zonealarm.com (http://www.zonealarm.com) and d/l the free firewall program. It will block all (currently) known backdoor programs and keep out unwanted guests.
Cheers!

If it happens while on the 'net only, yep, I agree about checking out the possibility of having been "hacked"...if it happens all the time..at least uninstall and reinstall the mouse, if not outright change it...
