My son was using the pc it locked up and he had to turn it off. When he restarted it there were lights, the keyboard flashes, the hd light comes on for a minute, the cd light comes on, and the light comes on the monitor. That's it the hd light goes out along with the cd. The monitor light flashes green. No beeps at all. It just sits there with the fan running.

Hello,

My first instint would be to have somebody check your computers power supply. Is it an AT or an ATX? On a AT there is a orange lead that MUST be 5 volts plus or minus .01 vt. Check that first. If it turnes out thatyour power supply is bad, I would remove one board at a time, then the memory, and see if you get any beeps at all. If you get no beeps, then finally remove the video card. Removing the video card should geive you 3 beeps. If all cards are removed and still no beeps...and the power supply is good...it may be time for a new motherboard. That may be why it locked up.

GOOD LUCK,
Steve

Hello,

I just read my post and I was confused on my answer! What I meant for you to do is figure out if the power supply is good. IF it IS good, then go ahed and remove the add on board as described. There would be no point in removing the boards if you had a bad power supply. I hope this is clearer.
