outlook express 6

why is it that when I open outlook I get disconnected from the internet
I use win98 and i.e. 6

Look under Tools -> Options -> Connections and make sure that (not quite sure what it says) but that use the existing connection option is enabled.

make sure the box next to hang up after sending and receiving is unchecked
