Can anyone help me find a way to take MS Explorer off my PC. I have WinXp on my system and for some reason after installing that program, it doesn't show in the Add/Remove panel. How do I take it off?

Thanks,
Sylvie

MS Explorer?

Do you mean MS Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer?

Neither can really be removed, IE is integrated into the operating system and provides internet browsing, Windows explorer is a basic part of the operating system that provides file managment...

IE6, when done as a fresh install with XP does not show up in Add/Remove, one reason being, there is no previous version to revert back to...

Sylvie,do you have MSN as your ISP?
I occasionally use MSN Explorer just to check it out, and it comes automatically installed with Win XP.
Am curious as to why you would want to delete it thou.
Does it cause software conflicts,perhaps?

the VERY FIRST thing I got rid of when I booted into winXP was MSN Exploder (explorer):

This tweak lets you uninstall Windows Components such as MSN Explorer, MSN Messager, and programs in the Accessories menu on the 'All Programs' menu.

1. Edit the hidden system file SYSOC.INF in the Windows/Inf folder (or WINNT/Inf if you upgraded from NT or 2000).
2. Delete all instances of the word HIDE. Don't put any spaces inbetween the commas.
3. Save your changes.
4. Open 'Add or Remove Programs' in Control Panel.
5. Click on 'Add/Remove Windows Components. You will now see options for 'Accessories and Utilities' (the programs in the Accessories menu on the Start panel), MSN Explorer, MSN Messager and several other components.
6. Uncheck the tick box to remove that component or check it to install it from your XP CD.

Be careful what components you remove though!

An easy way to remove all the instances of HIDE is to use the replace function in the text editor (notepad or wordpad), just enter ",HIDE" in the find box and "," in the replace box...
