Background Info:
- Recently built multimedia station (P4 2.0A Ghz, 512MB RAM)
- Running Windows XP Professional
- 4 users: 1 administrator account (that's me), three Power Users accounts
- All software installed using my WinXP account ("Administrators" account type)

Issues:

1. When my kids try to access their Hotmail account through their own WinXP account, every click takes approx. 2 minutes for the related action to complete; whereas when they do so through my WinXP account, no problem. I tried to change my WinXP account type to "Power Users", thinking the problem is related to the account type, but to no avail. What gives?

2. Also, it takes a few minutes for Outlook to open. What's causing this slowness? When I click on Outlook with my WinXP account, it opens right away.

Your advice would be very much appreciated.

Is this Outlook (part of Office) or Outlook Express (bundled with IE)...two different critters here...?

Do you have MSN messenger installed/enabled?

If not...

There has already been one suggestion for fixing Outlook's load time after uninstalling Messenger, however if you don’t feel comfortable editing the registry simply open OE, click on the Tools menu, then Options, then go to the 'Other' tab, then un-check the box at the bottom that reads "Enable instant messaging in Microsoft Outlook".

Clarification:
1. My request relates to Outlook, not Outlook Express.
2. Messenger is installed and enabled (for my Win XP Account).

Just a guess: prehaps this is normal, I experiance long waits in Outlook Express for my Hotmail Account sync'ing. Let me put it this way: Either the service is overloaded (which is very likely), or they are providing a poor service to those who do not use their ad fat website (which is equally likely mumblemuble).

Of course, this won't help you very much. Maybe you should just stick to good old free and fast POP/STMP mail.
