View Full Version : Scanning LP cover

I have been transfering my vinyl records onto CD as I want to keep a copy as well as the original. The problem is, making a CD cover from the LP cover. Obviously it is too big to put onto the scanner in one go, and I tried using my camera to capture the image, but the quality is very poor.
I have been told to look for software that allows me to scan the LP cover in two halves and then put them together as a complete picture, which I can then reduce to CD cover size. Any Ideas what software would do this for me?
Cheers

Love your sig......
Yeah, that might work but I don't know of any software that specifically does that, but with a little practice you should be able to do it with some basic image editing software (proably even good old Paint )...

I can't think of anything that would prevent Microsoft Paint from working. You'd scan the images using the same resolution and copy and paste the one half onto the file of the other half and carefully line the two up. I'd try that first before spending money on another software package.

Another two cents. Can you take the cover to your local photocopy shop, and get it reduced to a size your scanner can handle? I often do it that way for the same reason. Trying to line up two separate images can be a PITA. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

Here's something you might try. Do a search on the internet for the album and you might be able to find an image of the cover. It might be a bit small at first and not great quality when you blow it up, but its a place to start.

Have a look at cdcovers.cc (http://www.cdcovers.cc)
They have tens of thousands of CD, PSX & DVD covers available to download.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'm trying to use the copy and paste facility in Windows Paint, but am pulling what's left of my hair out because it's a bit "hit and miss" with trying to cut and line up with any accuracy.
Cheers all. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
