I have had a lot of trouble getting AOL version 7 to work with Windows XP and Zone Alarm. However, eventually I had to uninstall Zone Alarm altogether since it seemed to interfere on High, Medium and Low Security settings.
Not too happy to have someone indulge in unprotected surfing. Any bright ideas?

Sorry about this double-posting but I am off on holiday tomorrow and have to sort this one out before I leave. Notebook seems to be the Cinderella forum. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Actually, Pianorak, Software is probably where it should be anyway....
Which version of ZA are you running?
Have you disabled XP's native firewall?
Supposedly the latest versions have fixed the XP problems, but not sure about the AOL problems. We have had several threads on AOL and ZA in the past and there seemed to be some sort of disagreement as to whetehr or not they can play well together....
The one thing I do remember is that it took playing around with a couple of different ZA versions to get it to play well with AOL...but with XP your version pool is a little more limited.

<<Which version of ZA are you running? >> ZA Freebie
<<Have you disabled XP's native firewall?>> No.
How reliable is this XP native firewall? Would it be sufficient?
BTW. I think I started on the previous thread of AOL and ZA. The answer was AOL v. 6 and ZA are cooperating just fine - but AOL v. 5 wouldn't play ball, if I remember correctly. But Windows XP requires AOL v. 7, version 6 being incompatible.

the native firewall in winXP will only block incoming, not any outgoing calls.

Sea thank you. Have decided to curb my paranoia and let AVG and native XP firewall get on with it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
