I have an item which AdAware has logged as spyware. This is as follows:

The identifed item which I am concerned about deleting after an AdAware scan is as follows:

Software\Micosoft\Current Version\Windows\Shared Dlls

I don't know what this is and am therefore concerned about deleting it!! I could of course back-up first, but I would still like to know what might happen if I delete it?

The name of the software is not identified? This is only the location. If you know the name of the software cited by AdAware and you are still using it, it might not work if AdAware deletes it, but you have to live with that spyware. If you are not using said identified software, or you plan to replace it, DELETE IT.

Thanks for your input.

Sorry to be a dunce, but how do you find out which piece of software this file path actually does refer to, because quite frankly I have no idea myself.

As u say, that is the trouble with spyware programmes - they aren't too user friendly, are they.

Software\Micosoft\Current Version\Windows\Shared Dlls

Is a registry key. Don't delete the key because it is used when any program uses a DLL that is shared with another program. ( A program's installer will update this key.)

It's not a part of any spyware but simply a key used by Windows to track shared DLLS and is used when you go to uninstall a program.
