WINDOWS FAX SOFTWARE

I cannot Fax from my machine. I get an error message that there is no software. It tells me to run the fax wizzard. My question is how do I get to the fax wizzard to run it? If I lost my Windows CD is there a way online to load the necessary drivers? Is there any decent free fax software that is simple to use? I have win98SE with pentium celeron processor and a built in 56k fax modem.

Can u find freeware/shareware/software which enables the user to send faxes over the internet using a cable modem, which does not have an smtp, as I use only web-based e-mail? :confused

Unfortunate that you don't have your 98se CD, because I read that there is a fax program on the 98 CD..but have never needed it, so haven't checked. It's probably pretty "basic"..but hey, free and better than nothing and should be compatible, right?

Do a Google search..I put "freeware fax" in the box. Got this one with a list of possibles at atomz.com (http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=fax&sp-a=sp1000f6ed)..and for a cable modem, I found this at cable modems.org (http://www.cable-modems.org/Q&A/index.php?one_question=5)

if you can get hold of a win 98 disc. explore the contents & find a folder called "oldwin95" in that folder you can find a programme called awfax click & install. fax drivers to fax from this programme click print in the programme your document is. use the dropdown box scroll down & you will find microsoft fax highlight then click print your modem should then dial the number you have inserted. pretty basic software but it works & best of all it works (but only with win95 & win98)

If your PC have a modem and it has a CD driver, most often it include a Fax Software. I have a Diamond Supra modem and it has a Fax Communicator in its driver CD. I am using it to fax docs.
