View Full Version : Socket Failure
I recently purchased a program for internet telephone. The problem is everytime I try to connect with it I get this error message "Socket Failure. Check your internet connection and try reconnecting" I'm not sure what is going on...I'm connected via dail-up and have no problems surfing the web. Does anyone know what a socket failure is?
thanks

Ok try not to fall asleep http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
A socket is just a pair of IP addresses and port numbers used during a network connection.
Example:
222.222.222.222(port 22) is talking to 333.333.333.333 (port 2000)
So in this case the program is saying it can't connect to whatever it's trying to connect to.
You might check the ip addresses or port numbers you entered into the program If it uses that type of setup.
Good Luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for the reply Ghost,
Unfortunatly I shouldn't have to enter an IP number just to connect to their server. Once I log on to the softwares program I should be able to take it from there. This is a old program, I'm wondering if the servers for it are even working http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Anyways I know what a socket failure is now http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
thanks again,
Mil
