I've just acquired a PCChips M747 motherboard that must have been used with ATX but, due to not having an ATX PSU, I've connected to an AT PSU (the board has both connectors - the AT had never been used - I had to cut the slots for the connector). The P2 fan runs, the floppy light comes on (and stays on), but as there are no sync signals to the monitor from the onboard AGP I get no screen.
A host of questions are now assailing me!
The Pentium II 350 CPU is new (er ... second/hand!) and I haven't got another. The PC133 memory is new (really new - a micron) - the only module I've got of this type. I haven't got another P2 board to test them on.
So where do I go now?
If the board was run using ATX could it be that the BIOS has been set so that nothing happens if AT is used? (main question!) - or maybe someone's flashed the BIOS & killed it? (The board is Pentium III capable).
As it only cost a fiver I'm not concerned about being "ripped off", but it would be nice to get it up and running. It looks so cute and "new" sitting there on my worktable.
Oh well - 'suppose I'll have to carry on with my trusty (but slow) Pentium 166 for a while longer.
