Looks like you're very close.
Maybe a carriage return after the last "
Another dash and then a space before the C
Then add any bold or italics codes you want. You can nest them to get both effects, like this:
Statement or quotation[end italic][end bold]
Hard to show exactly without having the darn thing actually do it.
Start bold code is B or b, enclosed in [ ]
Start italic is I or i, enclosed in [ ]
End italic code is /I or /i, enclosed in [ ]
End bold is /B or /b, enclosed in [ ]
All codes within the [ and the ], with no spaces before or after the code letter or /
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."
-- Chinese Proverb
Something like that?
Begin with 'start bold code'
then "
then 'start italic'
then Give
then 'end italic'
then space
then a man .... day
then a .
then a space
then 'start italic'
then Teach
then 'end italic'
then a space
then continue to the final "
then 'end bold'
then carriage return
then two dashes and a space
then Chinese Proverb
Don't forget, you have to go through the profile/submit steps
and do all this in that little window, then submit changes.
Now I'll post this and see if it really works like I said. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

To be more clear
You have to go through the profile steps to originally enter the text
and then also every time you make changes to it.
Although you can type and make changes to the signature area after you
click on 'edit', any changes you do make there don't effect the original
back in the profile area.

Whaaaa???? Just kidding...understood. I was hoping that you would change those italics for me and then I could just figure a way to copy/paste the whole thing into my sig. Not gonna be that easy, huh? Seriously, when back on my baby and off this ...nevermind...will print out your stuff and do a step by step. Thanks.

Begin with 'start bold code'
then "Give a man... of his life." (No space before 1st " or after last ")
then 'end bold'
then carriage return
then two dashes and a space
then Chinese Proverb
Gives you this:
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."
-- Chinese Proverb
Update --
Now that I tried it, copy and paste will work with a little fudging.
b]"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."

All you need to do is copy the above to the Clipboard, do the profile
thing, paste it into the little window, and insert the [ at the very
beginning. Submit changes and you're done.
Duh. Boy, that was lots easier. If there's a more complicated way
to do something, you can usually count on me to find it. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Laughing here...now if you'll just do it one more time without the cute part, I can "cheat" again.
You going with both signatures? or in process of changeover? And what is that really long line of letters and numbers in your test?

Let's try it and see. Not sure if the ·'s will copy and paste right or not. Should be OK.
i]G·i·v·e a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
i]T·e·a·c·h a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.
-- Chinese Proverb
Copy this to the Clipboard, then go delete what you
already have in that little window.
Don't forget -- you have to go put the two ['s in front of the
two i's at the beginning of those two lines after you paste.
And which part was the c•u•t•e one, anyway? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
Not sure how much room is available for the signature block.
I'm using six lines now. Maybe I'll try a chapter from
"Moby Dick" or "David Copperfield" next. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Actually, Carradine never said anything on the show that made as much "sense" as my choice. Guess "the rain loves the frog" makes a certain amount of sense, but hardly relevant at the time he said it.
Oh please...don't do a chapter from a book! Takes some of these posts a LONG time to load on my slow connection as it is. This one, for example!
I will change mine soon...thanks for all the help..really.

Kay: The easy way...
Go to one of tjay's posts, click the 'Edit' icon at top of the post. You can't edit the post, but you can copy the text and paste it into your signature...or into a notepad file and into your profile later...
but try to keep it just a bit shorter than tjay's sig...it's longer than most of his posts http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Also, to show someone how to use UBB, put a space after the first bracket. Then just tell them to remove the space. [ url=http://www.google.com]Google

You, Sir, are sort of on my "poo poo" list this morning! You recommended disabling cookies a few days ago, so I set that to "prompt" and deleted a bunch of cookies out of the Cookie folder yesterday. This morning am running around re-entering passwords. Probably better off in the long run, but today it's annoying.
