Why oh why do they say: only . . . and registered users can edit/delete posts when in fact I, a registered user , have just now been prevented from doing just that?
Questions, questions, nothing but questions and probably no answers. Ah well, plenty more tests to keep me amused over this bank holiday weekend (in the UK). http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/redface.gif

Hi Pianorak, I see you've taken the plunge http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
To put the word "Here" on your posts with the URL hidden just type it like this (url=www.pcguide.com)Here(/url) replacing the () brackets for [].
Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Looks like you got the bold down pat! For those of us less clever than geebee (and some of the other masters), there is the little icon that looks like a world with sunglasses (second from left, first line of UBB codes). Click on it while posting and you get . I click just inside the end of the first set of brackets, backspace to the = sign, hit Control and V (to paste the link I have already copied to clipboard). If you just hit ConV, you end up with an extra set of "http://" and then the link won't work. Okay, so then I have it pasted in, hit my arrow keys to get into middle (between sets of brackets), type whatever I want.."here" or the name of the website, then hit arrow keys to get past second set of brackets and move on. If I can do it...you absolutely can! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I've gotten a lot of error messages when posting recently also. Think that many are experiencing the same problem. If I try to post again after getting the error, I get a double post..so, if it was a long post, I copy/paste into an email message and save until I see whether the post made it or not. It always has made it, so I have stopped trying to post again. May be one price we have to pay for being a popular site?

Kay and geebee - Thanks for all your helpful advice. Hmmm, I felt such a fool having posted twice through no fault of my own - and of course not a moderator in sight to come to the rescue. Enjoy your weekend!
geebee: loved the one-liner site. Even picked up some Dutch: Netwerken is net werken. No prize for guessing what that means.

But I still don't know how to add a "signature" to a posting. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

For a signature: under "The PC Guide Discussion Forums" heading is a "profile" link. Click here to edit your profile. If you see a "sig" at the end of this post, it's working!

fraelorn Never one to resist a link - but "here" appears to be a dead end http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
