not more than 16 bit colour

http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif still can not get higher than 16 bit colour on startup win 98 ive been 2 settins it wil go lower 256 but not higher + mouse no longer works any 1 tried surfin usin keboard lol.........PLEASE HELP.PS dont know what ive deleated?

I had the video problem a while back when I tried to do a system restore. (that didn't work!) I updated my driver and all was well again. Maybe you can check in Device Manager for any conflicts also.

Do you have a PSII or Serial mouse? If you have a PSII mouse ....try putting a serial mouse on it to at least be able to figger out whats going on. I dont know what is going on with the video.....did you have 24 or 32 bit color before? If you did, then you most certainly need to reload your video drivers.
