I have an IBM Aptiva 2162-S8C and have added a Western Digital 40G second drive and Voodoo3 2000 3D card. I am running Win98 Chinese.

Recently, I cannot boot from diskette. I tried varies diskettes, DOS622, Win98 start, even Aptiva Flask Bios update BVA_4k. The boot process either hang or display messages like bad or missing command interpreter or non system disk after several diskette boot sound. Those diskettes boots ok on other computers.

Besides booting problem the diskette drive works fine.

I have connected another diskette drive and the problem is still the same.

Any suggestion on how to fix this problem?

Could the problem be related to the fact that the diskettes you are putting in are unable to be seen by a Chineese ver. of Win?? I'm lost on this one obviously.

No, in the diskette boot process, it has not reached the hard disk and does not know what Operating System is on the hard drive.

This is a hardware problem. I reseated the diskette controller card and coonecting cables and the problem is gone.

Problem solved.
