there are so many variables.........
are you logged on as admin?
have you set group policies?
have you run gpedit.msc?
this would be a perfect one for GH

Whenever this happens open your "RUN" box and type \\computername\share (replace "computername" with the name of the remote computer and "share" with the shared folder's name.) If the folder is still "shared" a new window to that folder will popup.
Sounds like you have a problem with your browse list. You might check to see which computer is the master browser for the workgroup by typing nbtstat -n at the command prompt of each computer. The master browser for your workgroup will have an entry that says "\\--__MSBROWSE__[01h]" Also note that browse list problems can sometimes take up to 15 min. to "fix" themselves, which is why I always use the "run" box instead of net 'hood to troubleshoot shares.
Good Luck :)
