I need some help here. I have a 120 mhz compaq laptop with win 95 and 48 megs of ram. My computer hangs after displaying the processor and then my cache. I can boot from a floppy. But i dont know what to do to make it stop hanging. Any help will be greatly apprectiated.

It could be that your motherboard cache has cratered....try going into the Bios (on a Compaq it's usually F10 at startup to get into bios) Go to "Advanced" settings, or similar and turn off "External" cache. See if that enables a good boot. If it does, you will have a slow but working laptop (the cache really speeds things up on a P-120). If that doesnt do the trick......maybe someone else will come with idea(s).

Is there some kind of secret in my setup screeN? because i dont see any advanced options here at all. Is there any other kind of setup i could go into that would allow me to disable cache?

Sometimes the "secrets" are found at the Compaq web site http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.compaq.com/support/index.shtml
