Hi

I just bought an ASUS CUSL2-C m/b and after plugging everything in and turning it on all I get is a Long beep followed by a short beep. I removed every thing except the CPU and it made no difference. I put the RAM and Video card back in and no difference. There are almost no jumpers on the board, but what there are, are correct. Ive tried all the components in another system and they work fine. The chip I'm putting is a brand new PIII 800EB.

Right now I'm starting to get a little deserate. If any one can help me I would be really grateful.

thanks

Without knowing the BIOS that's in it, here are a couple of links to beep code info, maybe that will help.

As I expect you already know......to get a post to the bios screen you must have the CPU, Memory and a video card installed. One thing that crops up as a problem for many is failing to set the cmos clear jumper to "normal" position on a new board....I dont know what kind of beep you would get in the clear position but it's worth a try to check to be sure its in NORMAL settng. If everything (ie vid and memory) works in another machine, then either the cpu is defective, not seated correctly, not jumpered correctly or the memory is not seated right or it's incompatible. Additionally, your motherboard could be shorting out and causing the long beep......As you can see, many things can result in the dreaded BEEP !
BE SURE TO HAVE THE KEYBOARD PLUGGED IN WHEN YOU TRY TO POST.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I got an unexpected reply from ASUS who said that it was no detecting the video card. Seeing as I tried 3 different video cards, I guess that maybe there is a problem with the AGP slot. i know the video cards each work in other systems. All the components in it have been tested in other systems. So I'm gonna contact my supplier and see if they can do anything with it.

Once again thanks for all your suggestions.
