Well, while all the hoopla about the new software for the site has been going on, I did a major upgrade of my machine. :) Major for me at least.

About a year or so ago, I posted a question about making an "ultimate" boot disk for my computer. HERE (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7265) is the post. Mjc and others were kind enough to clue me in.

Well, I've finally gotten around to getting it done and this is what I came up with. I kept the P111 500mhz chip and the 64MB of ram. Everything else is new. A new (no name) case with plenty of room and fans, an Intel D815eea motherboard that I got for $27, an addition of 256MB of Kingston ram for a total of 320MB. A Creative Blaster V.92 PCI modem. An ATI RAGE PRO ULTRA 128 video card that I got for $15. A Sony 56X CD-ROM drive and a new mouse and keyboard. I'm still using my Acer USB burner, too.

I got a new Maxtor 80gig HDD. Partitioned it to hold Win98 on one partion, W2k on another, and all the programs on a third.

I'm gonna take the 12gig HDD from the old setup and put it in my test computer (an old 200mhz Pentium W/MMX) and load DOS 6.2 and W95 and network it with the new computer. I'm workin' on that now. Just to see if I can really do it. Wish me luck. :)

Good luck to you on that. And if you get lost, there's now a networking troubleshooting forum! :) Boy, we have it too good around here.

And may I commend you on your purchases! Such low prices! Way to bargain hunt.
