Hi All,

Is it possible to stop someone using a comp.
I know windows allows a password protection.
But I think it can be bypassed by booting into safe mode.
Can a comp be protected securly from the bios.
With anyone being able to bypass it.
The system I think is Win 98se and Amd processor.
Not sure what bios version it uses.

Thanks,

kfh.

if you have a password at Windows startup and add say a Printer it bypasses the password.

it can be done from the BIOS and it asks you for the password before it kicks up Windows BUT BE SURE you write the password down.

a BIOS password can be a pain when your rebooting alot in DOS(Fdisk/format).
bypass by safemode, i dont know.

Hi kfh,

I went to the search feature, typed in 'password protection and came up with this (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum15/HTML/000664.html) and that (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7509&highlight=Password+protection) came up among otheres but they seem the most informative ones.
