View Full Version : Another WindowsXP Question

I recently asked here if my 2000 Norton System Works could somehow run on XP. The answer was no, which is ok. Now I'm in the process of installing some games onto my hard drive (I just got a new computer a few days ago) and I see that my Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2001 also isn't compatible on XP. Hmm, I fear that a lot of my older (i.e., couple years old) games might not work on XP. Am I wrong? Anybody else been through this (possible) dilemma?

One more unrelated question. When I put my PC GAMER demo disks into the CDR tray, I see at the bottom of the screen (on the taskbar) that they have loaded, and I even hear the audio. But when I click on it to bring it to the screen nothing happens. I can't get the screen up. I can go into Windows Explorer and access the contents that way, and if there's an autorun option there, I can click that and it works. But why can't I get the screen up otherwise? I'm still brand new to XP and no, I haven't done ANY research on it yet, so maybe I should look for the answer myself. Too late now, I've already typed it out.

Thanks in advance for help on either problem.

You might consider setting up a dual boot with Win9x if you want some of your older stuff to work.

has a very good point to consider- as for the 1st question, you would need a game guy- like iisbob or GH.. maybe a bunch of other gamers here too!

WIN98SE for games. WIN2000Pro for everything else.

Planning to set up a dual boot using the above real soon. After I installed 2KPro, I was very disappointed to find that a lot of my older racing games and such were not supported.

This might work for the games.
Try running them in compatability mode. right click on game program and one of the choices should be compatability mode click and follow the direction. Worked fine for me on some old pinball games.
Good luck
