Just forwarded that to my son, who refuses to listen to me about KaZaa
You won't see that junk anywhere near my computer!
As if all the spyware weren't enough :eek:
You know, some people just don't listen. I can't tell you how many puters I've worked on with problems centered around KaZa. Alot of my friends use it claiming that they have a "workaround" to safely install and run it.
My advice, DONT.
This software is plain garbage and has no business being on anyone's computer. If you really want to file share, I've used WinMX with some degree of success. As with all file sharing programs, use a degree of caution. This stuff is a breeding ground for future troubles.

Call me paranoid but that seems like a nice little move for the recording companies to make, to introduce a worm into kazaa. I wouldn't be surprised if worms were to start showing up a lot in other file sharing programs. Just becouse the recording companies are fighting piracy dosn't atomaticly make them the good guy. I believe that they will use any means possible to get as much of your money as they can. How much would they have to pay someone to make and start a worm in kazaa? How much money are they losing through kazaa? How many worm makers get busted? One might make enough to pay for collage.

Well in my experiance the people who use KaZaA also use Direct connect and various other programs for sharing...one look at the remote path the files are coming from confirms this....usually C:\Program Files\KaZaA\My Shared Folder , i have found this too many times to mention and if the worm is in KaZaA then I would presume it could spread to all other file sharing programs? ... feel free to dispute this, it's only my point of view ;)

My cable connection won't even let you connect, somehow they have blocked access. I agree I bet the record companies have something to do with this {not really}

Yes, possibly it could, but these two particular worms are using exploits specific to KaZaa. But I suppose if the the file is picked up by another file sharing app it would still spread, but if you don't have KaZaa on your machine it really wouldn't activate and spread. It would just stay in the one infected file. That is my understanding of how these two operate, I could be wrong here....
The entertainment industry using tactics like that....No, never happen...
(and if you believe that one I know of some nice oceanfront property for sale near Tempe, AZ....;))
