I have a client who wants me to network his 2 computers wirelessly so they both can access the internet. The computers are on different levels of the house so they will be wirelessly connected. He just recently got AT&T broadband service. He already has the broadband modem and he purchased a wireless Netgear router. Both computers are quite a bit old. Both of his computers have Windows 98 first edition. My concern is whether I should have him upgrade to Windows 98 second edition? Or should I just leave the computers as they are. I tried installing the wireless network cards in both computers and it shows up with a yellow exclamation mark in system properties. Could this possibly be due to limitations in Windows 98 First edition? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Could be...there have been some updates to the network side of 98 between the 1st and se....but you could get just about everything from running all the updates for the 1st ed., all except ICS (internet connection sharing), but if running a wireless network that may not be your problem....

Try the latest drivers for the cards.
