hello again!
apparently, i noticed that when using windows xp, my brother seems to have less lag/graphics problem when running games like warcraft III or neverwinter nights. Almost no lag and with medium settings.
Thing is, when I log into my own account, my games don't perform as well compared to my brother. I thought it had something to do with whats on his taskbar/systray but I checked and everything is the same!
Thus, at same graphics settings, his seems to run better and mine doesnt. He's not computer literate when it comes to these things. He just plays. Thus, what could be wrong? It's been bugging me for some time now.
It likes him better than you....:D
I would investigate other settings than the game settings...have you done any tweaks in your account that could have actually hurt performance?
Has he followed the tweaks of some web site that improved his performance?

Could it be that his hand-eye coordination is faster than yours...but you're just not seeing it?? :( :D
You could try shutting down everything in the Task List except for Exporer and Systray and then play the game! Don't let him see you do it though! :p
Are both of you actually using the same machine?
If so try running a couple of benchmarks in each account and see if thee are any measureable differences.
ps I'm going to drop this in the Performance category...I think it will be a little better fit.

All he does is ... PLAY.
I was walking past the comptuer when I noticed that somehow GTA graphics are much better in his. So I went up to him and asked him to pause and I checked out his settings -- all the same. It applies to othe games -- warcraft III, and neverwinter nights... and he's not even computer literate........ OR MAYBE HE IS. MAYBE HE HAS A SECRET LAB.
Hmmm I'll try to create a new user accoutn and see what happens if i run things from there.

Keyboard error or no keyboard present.
Press F1 to continue or F10 to enter setup.
How can you do that if the keyboard isn't attached?
I really am confused Jose...back to mjc's question, are you talking about 2 identically setup computers, or just one that you both use?
I am not sure if you can tweak Windows XP the same as Win2K adv. server, but here is an idea. Has your brother given all or any applications priority via the task managers or system control panel? If foreground apps. are given priority that might do.
