Hey All,

I've been reading post on here for the past week and its seems to be better than the tech surrport I get from DELL. I have a 2 Month old Dell Demension 8200...P4 with 1.8 ghz, 40 HD, 128 RDRAM...windows Xp Home .GeForce 2, 19 inch CRT with an Epson C80 color Printer.. It cost $1,405.00.. I FEEL SO STUPID!!.. Is this system even any good?

My first question..Well Problem....

When ever I reboot or Sht down my PC and Restart it It's fine. After choosing my User login..And it loads into the desktop.. I cant click on any Icons r the task/start menu. Why Is that? I have to restart the PC about 3 times before i can use or run any programs!! Ive have been calling Dells Tech support evrey nite for the past month..THEY ARE NO HELP!!!! Ive done System restore, Ive tried to repair windows. but the problem keeps happening. I even made a NEW user name and deleted the old one... It still continues. I spoke with a tech here at my job he stated that I have a curropted file in start up..Why didnt Dell Surport help me with This? I mean What are they there for? I would like any advice on this if any knows why it is dong this.

Also thanks to some advice I was reading on here.. I have went hom yesterday and deledted Kazaa... I dont belive to have any viruses on my PC. But what about all that Spyware Crap?

One more question!...lol

Any one play The Sims?
I Belive that I have some Files that are bad on my HD beacuse of objects and skins I have downloaded for that game. When ever I run the game to choose a family It kicks me out of the game back into my deskop.! I dont know wether its the game or the files, but i dont play it. and I don;t want to delete the files if that is not the problem! What to do?

Thanks PC GUIDE for all the help you have provided..
Cant wait to hear some GREAT responses

Thanks Alot
Kevin

Sorry, can't be of much help on the icons. Your system seems a bit better than mine and I'm happy with mine so once you get it working well you should be OK if that makes you feel any better... :)

I'm just the plumber coming to fix The Flush (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) . Click on it, install it and it should show you how to dispose of the unwanted Spywares.

Someone will be along to address some more of your issues I'm sure. ;)

BTW. Welcome to

Did this happen only after you ran Kazaa? i know that if you get Kazaa from the main website when you 1st log in and it loads the website page it will also load and install a nasty stealth prog named BDE Viewer that will be listed in the add remove programs you 1st however may have to go to teh Start then Run and type in MSCONFIG and go to the Startup tab and uncheck BDE Viewer 1st, then reboot then uninstall that. Then run the Adaware as stated above. May help also if ya tell us what is in that startup list while ya in there...also i'm assuming your giving the system time to fully boot up before you start clicking on icons..sorry if in way off on this but i have seen it :D If ya want Kazaa without the mess, do a search for Kazaa Lite which is a hacked version without spyware..Adaware will pick up a clint.dll spyware file even with the Lite, but its a "dummy" that needs to be there to load the program. Hope this helps and reply back the details of what was checked to load while you were in that Startup tab. And if Dell support is anything like Gateway then the 1st word out of there mouth is restore.
