3.5 Floppy drive problems

I'm currently having a problem with my 3.5 floppy drive. The light is always on, even when a disk isn't in. As well as i get the disk drive A is not ready message box. Could it be the ide connection, because its not the drive because i've connected a different one and it does the same thing. Any help would be greatly apperciated.

9 times out of 10 when the floppy drive light is constantly on the cable is reversed, disconnect one end of the cable (drive end should do) and flip it. That should cure it.

And make sure neither end of the ribbon cable is one pin off. That will sometimes do the same thing.

Thats exactly what the problem was, the reversed cable i mean.
