I recently purchased a second user Compaq Qvision200 but,the text seems
out of focus, can this be resolved?
My system is running win98 with a Cirrus Logic 546x1.17 vid card and was fine with my previous 14"monitor.I have tried different res settings but with no luck.
Also the screen settings don`t allow for top and bottom screen adjustment,
although there are some called Vert.conv.and Hori.conv. but they don`t apear to do anything,
Thank`s Folk`s.

Did you get ANY warranty or return options from the person you bought it from? Did you see it working before you bought it? It might just be a worn out monitor (I know you probably don't wanna hear that).

What size is the Compaq, and how much RAM is on the Cirrus card? You may not have enough video RAM to run a larger monitor at anything but lower resolutions.

I got a 3month warranty with the monitor,it seemed to work O.K. in the shop.
It`s a 19", I don`t know how to determine the ram for the vid card.

Right-click on the desktop, select Properties > Settings, then click the Advanced... button. Click on the Adapter tab and you should see info about the mfr, chip and memory.

It`s 4mb, (set at default) that doesn`t sound much to me.
Another symptom I have noticed is a game I run called Delta Force is
slow at 800x600 but normal at a lower res, this also was fine with my14" monitor.

WELL, USUALLY, MONITORS DO HAVE FOCUS CONTROLS INSIDE. U CANT GET TO THEM UNTIL U OPEN THE COVER. NORMALLY THEY ARE ADJUSTED USING A SCREW DRIVER WHILE ON (DANGEROUS...). AND THIS IS DONE AFTER THE MONITOR HAS BEEN ON FOR SOMETIME (IT SEEMS THE TEMPERATURE MATTERS...NOT SURE...). U CAN TRY OUT THAT!

DO NOT OPEN THAT MONITOR !!! Unless you are VERY experienced with monitors and electrical current etc......touching the wrong thing in a Computer Monitor CAN BE FATAL......NO JOKE. Stick with the suggestions which have been presented and if the monitor needs to be opened....let a monitor technician do it.
There is a good chance you dont have enough Video Ram on the video adapter card you are using to handle that big of a monitor...You will probably need at least an 8mb (better to have 16mb or more) to get the most out of that monitor.

I have answers for ALL questions...Correct Answers are another matter.....
