Different between Defragment and Scan Disk??

i only understand that Scan disk is to check error on something, but dunno on what. And Defragment is to rearrange the data found on my HD. Did i missed any understanding?? if so, tell me...:)

But, your right that scandisk checks for errors in your file system and defrag takes fragmented files and tries to "merge" them.
