I have seen a few external USB (not USB 2.0) hard drives for $70-100. Would they work for backing up and could I likely plug them into my USB powered hub (Belkin). Any recommendations on brand etc. I want 10-20GB storage capacity.
drdan,
I'm also looking for external USB storage, check my post removable storage in this forum. I'm considering the use of Flash cards (the ones used for digital cameras) w/ a USB reader. The readers cost about $40- and the cards come from 8 to 256 Mb. at different prices.
Maybe not a lot af space or very cheap, but higly upgrdable.

Why USB. Internal IDE drives are faster and don't take up desk space. Plus they are cheaper, and pretty easy to install.
