Everything is connected right first it didnt read my hd now i think it is but nothing is coming up on my monitor the light just turns yellow.

I assume you have the Disk connected to power and to the IDE connector on the motherboard.
If you added a second Disk, make sure you have one jumpered as Master (this one at the end of cable), and one jumpered as Slave (connected at middle of cable).
I would check the Master/Slave jumpers. Some systems require a stand-alone Disk to be jumpered as a Master. Some require no jumper. You can use a "Neutral" position instead of removing the jumper and probably losing it. "Neutral" is 90 degrees away from Master or Slave position.
Last possibility that I can think of is using the secondary IDE connector with the primary not used. Some Motherboards will not see a Disk under these conditions.
Older Motherboards require you to enter CMOS setup and invoke auto detect or enter Disk parameters. I doubt this is necssary.
