I curently have Windows 98SE. Would going to XP be an improvement or a problem? Also if i went to XP could I load it on harddrive partition and boot to ether system?

Thanks for your help.

probably both. you will prob have to update drivers for xp (maybe update some progs if you want to use them on xp)

dual will work, so long as 98 is loaded first.

there are plenty here dual booting 98 & xp. so you're sure to get some more replies.

hi stepchild, yes. as long as your puter will run XP. if it does download Win XP versions of software, utils and drivers. whats your spec?
yes, if you have a third party partition util use that, if not use FDISK to make the two partitions you need.
put on Win98 on the first partition and put Win XP on the other half, XP will sort out the dual boot part for you. hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies. My current system is as follows:

450 Megahertz Pentium III
256 megabytes of Memory
17 gig harddrive already partition. 12/5
CD-RW Drive
DVD Drive
Software---way to much.

I was thinking of putting XP on the 5 gig side. There is really nothing on that side. I use it for image processing. What is there can be move very easily.

Will the XP upgrade package work or will I need full blown package?

to use an upgrade you will need something to upgrade from. so you would have to load another version of windows (98 which you already have) onto your other partition then upgrade from it.

Thanks. I'll give it a try and see what happens.
