CD ROM Drive

Is there a way to find the data line to the CD rom drive? Sometimes my drive will function and at other times I have to move the cable going into the drive.
The power is all right for the door tray still operates OK. Examples you will see the HD drive working via by the LED light and normally after it is activated with in a few seconds the Drive will be activated.
Recently this problem started to appear. The jumpers are all set priviously, and correspond to the drive set up. How would I find the data line going to the drive? Or is there a possibility of another area of malfunction?

Is the ribbon cable plugged in properly
and securely to the Mboard and the CD-ROM?

May need a new ribbon cable possibly.

If movement of the cable initiates the drive, my first reaction would be, "You are very fortunate!" This might seem a strange response, but intermittant problems can be your worst nightmare to isolate. :(

I would follow RDs advice! ;)
