View Full Version : XP Pro vs. XP Home
Could someone tell me the difference in XP Pro and XP Home....I thought the only difference was that XP Pro has a better Networking system.....is there anything else?
Thanks in advance for the feedback

Hi Mil-
I think This (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/choosing2.asp) about sums it up!
Home is probably fine for most users. You decide! :D
I'm sure you would have found this anyway, but here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.asp) is the home page for both. Especially, check out the "which is right for you?" tab.
Good luck

I have found that the real difference for home users is if you need all the security. On XP pro you have to use passwords to logon, on XP home you don't. if you are a home user, one more thing to consider, the price!!!! Xp pro is more expensive. If your not a home user go with pro. By the way you will love the stability of either, makes being on the computer fun again.

Pro also has support for dual processors ..and during the install of any if you apply a password, you have to enter the password at bootup. If you leave it blank it wont ask. But when you install your actually setting up the admin account and it should be set up with a password like @DoNtRun@R0ot= for example.. once you install set yourself a guest account and dont run the OS as a admin. Also write down the admin password
