Welcome to all the new members joining the forums lately. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

A few hints:

Watch the date(s) on a topic you are replying to. If it's more than two
or three weeks old, chances are the problem was solved, but the original
poster may not have replied back to say so. Happens a lot. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Post your question(s) in only one forum. You won't get any faster or
better responses by duplicating it. In fact, it will become confusing
and hard to follow.

Please always include your Windows version in your question,
and as much info as you can, especially any error messages you are getting.

Thanks, mjc. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

I realize people are often in a hurry or even in a panic sometimes, but there is a
"Tip" in every forum similar to this example from System Troubleshooting:

Use this forum only for troubleshooting problems with the PC system as a whole, such as problems with booting, general instability or hardware-related problems not specific to a component. Also use this forum for problems related to system hardware such as CPUs, memory, cache or motherboards. Do not post here problems related to Windows, software applications or specific hardware components that have their own troubleshooting forums.

In order for us to provide you with troubleshooting help, you must provide us with sufficient information. Be sure to describe as much as you can about the problem. In particular: What specifically is the issue? Under what circumstances does the problem occur? Did the hardware or software that is not working ever work, or has it always been this way? Did anything in your system, hardware or software, change just before the problem started?

Please provide detailed information about all relevant hardware and software components. Finally, bear in mind that not all problems can be readily diagnosed over the Internet!

So much time is wasted when people assume we know the facts about their system.
It can sometimes take two or three exchanges before all the info is available.
Or the reply makes some assumptions that may not be really warranted,
usually because the original info is so sketchy.

Too much is better than not enough. Except what the cat had for lunch. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Unless the cat had your brand new IDE cable for lunch before you tried to install it...and now you are wondering why the drive won't work... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

There is one kind of "resurrection" I like to see on old topics -- when the original poster comes back and adds at the end that the problem was fixed and how it was done.

Agreed! If only more people would do it, it would help everyone to know what worked. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
