I have just been to the nVidia website, on the site there is a demo of what the new GeForce4 can do....but as I sit here watching this I'm thinking...How can they show what the new card is capable of when you have to watch it on your existing card? Is it possible to see any advance in technology when in actual fact you wont see any difference until you watch it on a GeForce4???
Maybe I'm just missing something:confused:

Well i went and looked at it I can say it looks pretty damn impressive to me. Use some logic I can guarentee that your card cannot produce the graphics as this one. Personally I think your just being foolish your expecting the screen to jump out at you. It's like watching regular TV and the new Digital TV, If there "not" pumping Digital over the waves it doesn't matter if you do or if you don't have digital you'll see the same pic.

But if I'm watching the demo and seeing the graphics then obviosly my card CAN produce the same...that was my point

But if I'm watching the demo and seeing the graphics then obviosly my card CAN produce the same. NO NO NO Your looking at a picture that can be produced as just about any image possable.Hollywood can produce images for TV that can blow you away but your equiptment will never produce the same.Enlighten us what card are you running??

I know where your going with this and you are not seeing exactly the pic that the NVidia can produce thru your card. It's just an Image that gives you the sight and feel of the card.I am not a phisics major nor is this a class room for therories thats better handled when your back at school.

But if I were you i would purchase the card There are non better on the market that the general public can afford."unless your rich"

Hmmmm....what you are seeing on your screen would be the capabilities of your current graphics card. Whatever limitations you currently have would still exist watching the demo.

So, the question would seem to be, what are they doing with the demo graphics to give one the "impression" that they actually are viewing this on a G4?

I suspect that the demo has a whole lot more information packed into each frame than software developers would ever expend the time and resources to produce under normal circumstances. Smoke and mirrors!

OKILEEDOKILEE neighbour;) I don't want to start an argument, I was just trying to figure out things in my own head... but 1 point I would like cleared up...On the specs sheet of the GeForce4 the figures are in the number of "texels" it can produce, but in the Geforce2 the figures are quoted as the number of "triangles" it can produce. Is this just to confuse people like myself (stop laughing) or is there technically more to producing a texel than a triangle, and do games use texels more than triangles, and is the world really round lol (only kidding). Anyway thats my tuppence worth so i'll go and take a couple of Nurofen for my self induced headache.

ps. I did give my full system specs in my profile;)

Well now i kinda figured out the demo thing....the movie Monstrers Inc used "texels" for the fur on Sully and since it was rendered in production, no hardware is needed to see the same effect on the tv screen, but if the GAME had the same fur then I would need a GeForce4 to see the effect?

Does this sound about right:confused:

just a bit of a laugh but I suppose 1 Billion sheep inside your PC would affect the cooling a bit:D
(although I wonder how long a Lamb chop would take to cook on an Athlon CPU :D)
