well, I have backed up everything to (10) cd's and am about to reinstall (clean) winXP Pro.

I had installed on a dual boot basis Jan 26th 2001, and now that I feel I know this OS, I want it all clean and new, with the fixes I KNOW that work, -tweaks-

I have been really lucky with this "old" compaq-( I remember when I first got it, it was "State of the Art" athlon 800Mhz T-Bird..lala- 128sdram,{{384 now}} no onboard stuff, etc-)

still running great.


am posting now from my last boot into win98se.

have all driver updates and only the 'hotfixes' that apply to this machine- seems I'm ready.

dont do it, you have the fate of the world in your hands, think of the small puters around the world that will pick up memory sticks in arms, all down to you pushing the little puter to over heating point, if it all goes wrong Wall street will fall and all the small puters around the world will demand your head on a CPU. the papers will be saying you are pushing them to do much more work with out a bigger pay packet, more strain on there familys, kids ask weres dad, he was pushed to over clocking point son.
