Hi there,

I am using a AMD 1.4G on a ABIT K7-RAID motherboard. I have two maxtor (40G) drives under the striping configuration.

About two days ago, I got a message regarding my Maxtor stripe missing. After that, I am unable to access my RAID drives.

Can anyone help me to save my data on those drives without re-configure my RAID drives again and losing information along with the re-configuration.

Thanks

This is precisely one of the reasons not to use RAID if you don't absolutely need it.

Probably all the data is toast...if you had a set up that mirrored and striped then the chances for recovery would be higher, but in a striping only setting when one drive chokes the whole array gets toasted. Since the striping process splits the data between both drives most disk recovery programs probablywill not be able to recover it in a way that makes sense.

I am now setting up RADI 0 for 2 40G maxtor HD and have not been successful yet.
There has been no problem in the array. I used DOS Fdisk to partition the two HDs as a single 80G. When I view the partition, it does display 80G. But when I started to format C:, it only format 40G. I do not know why it did that.
Could you tell me how you did Fdisk and format? What version of format did you use? DOS or Window OS? Did youir format recognize 80G (or something like that)? What OS are you using on the disk with RAID?
If you don't mind, please send me email at zzyang0516@yahoo.com

Appreciate :)
