Computer Shuts down

I have a couputer that after its on for 4 or 5 hours shuts off and beeps until I pull the power. Does anyone have any ideas where to start in trying to correct this type of problem. Thanks Nubbin

How about some system specs? and what OS.
And are you using power mgt.

What sequence are the Beeps?

Kinda sounds like a heat prob.

An add-on question to Yoda's, are you actively using the computer when this happens, or is it idling?

This is an AMD system?

Probably the system warning beep code. These settings
are controlled in CMOS (BIOS) and can be changed.

However, the problem needs to be given attention. As
raising the limits is only a temporary solution. Say
a person raises the limits on the CPU temp. before a
shutdown (OS compatable).... asking for grief.
