Could anyone out there tell me why I keep getting this error in my event viewer in win2kpro?

I think that the first one is referring to my pcmcia card that's a 2 gig toshiba hard drive. I also get this disk error which I believe is referring to my 40 gig internal hard drive:

Is anyone familiar with parity errors? The specs for the laptop that I have can be found at http://www.amazinglaptops.com/prostar-5694specs.htm

Thanks

What was on this laptop when you bought it?

Also if it is new, why don't you try taking this up with the manufacturer's support for warrnaty work/replacement?

I think you have some sort of actual hardware problem with the drive controller....DS could be another symptom of this problem.

My laptop didn't come with any OS on it. I installed Win2kPro and it had the 40 gig drive and the PCMCIA card came with it as well. I was going to take it up with the manufacturer on Monday as a last resort. Any ideas on how I could fix this myself?

Sounds like it possibly may be a motherboard problem.....not a DIY item on a laptop.

You can possibly try a fresh install, making sure you have the chipset drivers you need for the chipset/OS version.

Would I have to reinstall Win2kPro? Or can I just reinstall the chipset drivers?

Try the chipset drivers first, then if that doesn't help a whole fresh install of 2K.
