Some of you folks were so helpful to me last week when I asked a bunch of questions about the Ghost program and a 2nd hdd. I've ordered the hdd and it will arive by week's end.

I just have one more thing to ask. I would like the new hdd to be my main one and the old hdd to hold the backup data. How would I go about imaging the existing data to Ghost, transfering it to the new hdd and having that one work alone, including windows? That done, I could reformat the old one and use it for Ghost files.

After installing, partitioning, and formatting the new drive, just run Ghost from a floppy and select the Disk to Disk option and select the source and target disks. Afterwards, power down and reverse the MA and SL jumpers. When you reboot, your new drive should be the boot drive C:.

Reid, once again you've come up with an explanation even I can understand. Thanks.

Go to BIOS Setup menu, and change the BOOT order from the HDD0(the old hdd)to HDD1(the new one).

Do you want to backup data or the whole hard drive?

If you want to backup the whole hard drive then Ghost is great.

If you only want to backup data files, then I would recommend Second Copy 2000 a $29.95 download at www.centered.com (http://www.centered.com).

This is a really cool program and you don't have to compress the files like ghost so If you need just one file, you can get it from Windows without using any program.
