Ok my wife got this pic sent to her from a relative. Interesting I say to her when she showes it to me. Then I say it looks fake. Were did you get it? Should of keep my thoughts to myself but I didn't and thats that. So my question is how can you tell a fake pic from real? The pic she got is a Bitmap Image its too large to post if someone can tell me how to cut down the size I'll post it up. But anyway I'd just like to know how to tell the difference between fake and real pics.

If its a good fake it may be impossible to tell for sure. Things I would look for would be light angle variations or use a magnifying glass or microscope and look at the edges of objects.

Ok the problem is I have to convince my wife that the pic is fake. I can't say "are you and your cousin nuts" and let it go at that ( the cousin sent the pic and says she knows the photographer and it's real ). Dealing with this sort of thing can be more complicated that Middle East Peace negations one wrong move and war breaks out. One needs the logic of the great philosophers, the investigative skill of Charlie Chan and the tongue of a slick trail lawyer giving his closing argument to the jury. Those who have been married for a while will know what I'm talking about. I need some help with this. If I fail the standing of men the world over could fall or it could speed up global warming.

HeHE- Hi setoguro
Yea, I can relate to the married thing.
You know, it's really hard to tell. It actually could be a real photo.
Is that thing a killer whale or a shark?(Shows you what I know)
Anyway, it occured to me that maybe those guys are some sort of marine bioligist's doing something out there.(Who knows what!)
Wish I could be more help, but I'n no photo expert. With a little luck, someone will come along that is.
You could always just agree with them even if you think it's fake and keep the peace. :D
Good luck!
BTW-Your pic in the testing forum is a little bigger and shows some moe detail. (For you photo experts reading this) ;)
(edit) You know, the more I look at that, it looks like a shark. Also looks like San Francisco bay. I know there are sharks around there, saw one in santa cruz once, but you got me.
Anyone else out there??? Now I'm curious!!! :D

Darn it-Sorry, too late to edit my first post.
But you really got me going now. Look what I found HERE (http://images.google.com/images?as_q=Shark+with+Helicopter&svnum=10&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&imgsz=&as_filetype=&imgc=&as_sitesearch=&safe=images) in a google search. Trouble is, I can't seem to get anymore info on it.
Might give you a little ammo though. Like...."Exactly where did she get the picture"? HuH??? :D

HE hE he:D Tell her to really think about it a shark that big going after a Helcoptor  That would be front page news around the world. And they would be closing down the Bay there until they got rid of one that size. Just a little to close to shore and activity.
Shurer would make a great MOVIE thou don't you think

Well a final up date. I used the logical argument from Yoda and the evidence form Jabarnutcase put it all together and presented my case. In my mind I saw her crumble to dust. I saw her pleading for forgiveness for ever doubting me. I was king. But what really happened after it all? I get a shrug and an evil smile she new it was fake all a long. I was set up! They are treacherous and devious beyond imagination. May God help us all.

After all my research??? :D
Maybe they were just pretending that they knew it was fake to save face!
Even if they really did know, you can claim they didn't till the bitter end.:D
You know like: "Oh sure you knew, yea OK."

That's a possibility but one never knows when it comes to those crafty treacherous females. I can say this though we can stand with our heads held high we discovered the truth because your hearts are pure  .

pity I hadn't spotted this sooner, might have saved you all some work. !
the guy on the ladder, Richard, is a local electrician, he can't stand the sea & wont go any where near it. so it's obviously a fake, as they must have superimposed him on the ladder :D

Immediately came to mind the movie Rising Sun (1993) with Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes. The issue of faking a video/image was central in solving a crime. I don't remember all the particulars, but I remember being quite intrigued how they determined it was a fake. I think it was a geek! :D

Set,
Your wife's photo is one of the lead stories on AOL this morning. And, it's being featured with National Geographic (http://www.nationalgeographic.com/popups/ngm_subscribe.html)! I realize this still doesn't avoid any possible repercussions due to your uncovering the truth! ;)

In trying to prove your wife wrong you are missing one of the universal, fundamental laws of marriage, eg. You can never win.
When you feel like you are 'winning', just remember that is what the mouse feels like when the cat gives him a head start with the intention to make the kill more interesting.
