Great, now a new problem on top of the old one. I was taking out the stick of ram i'm using in my system to try and see if taking it out and putting it back in would be a problem, and i noticed one of the connectors hanging off. How big of a problem is this? Obviously i'll try and get this returned, but can i still tets out the system with this ram?

Thanks.

Do you mean the locking devices at the end of the slots that hold the
RAM in place? Some cam be a bit tricky. In most instances the tabs are removeable.

Check to see that the locking tabs are hooked properly at the end of the Motherboard slots. I recently had a dickens of a time with this, as one side would lock and the other tab pop out.

Some of the tabs seem to assist in positioning the RAM into the slot. When opened, there might be a little "hook" that the stick rests on and then working both tabs at the same time it both seats and locks it into place.

Some require that the stick be completely seated and then the tabs pulled up to lock it.

Never force...use gentle pressure, and remember....it takes approximately 2000 volts for us to feel an electrostatic discharge taking place and only around 200 volts to toast a stick of RAM! :(

So, make sure you are properly grounded. ;)

Thanks for the help, unfortunatly i'm talking about one of the little metal connects thats on the bottome of the ram (there's a whole bunch of them linning the bottom), I know this is not good, but will it still be usable till i return it? Thanks

I'd suggest not messing with it! If the piece that is hanging down shorts across with an adjacent contact when inserting that could be trouble. BIOS checksum of the RAM could be trouble too...

Not good...I'd say! :(

Maybe i should clarify a little more. I saw it hanging off, than it actually fell off!!!!! This is expensive ram too so it's pissing me off! So basically don't put this back in the system huh?

Thanks

No way the RAM stick is going to function
at this point.

Send it back where it came from and get
a replacement.

Be thankful the connectors aren't stuck in
the RAM slot on the Mboard.

What brand RAM is this?
