Max IDE Channels (Increasing)

Is it possible to use the raid IDE channels as regular IDE channels and thereby increase the number of available IDE channels?

I'm currently facing the issue of running an add-on card and just wondered if a board such as the ASUS A7V133 which has 4 IDE channels, 2 of which are meant for raid setup, could be used for this purpose.

Depends on the motherboard. My Soyo board has a jumper that has to be moved depending on whether you want RAID or normal IDE...

I'm guessing you'll probably be able to use them as normal IDE, but you really need to read the instructions...

By setting your jumpers to ATA1OO default

you will be good to go.
