When i connect my computers power cord to AC Line, my computer starts
running before i push the power button. I am using ATX power supply ,
BX Board and PII CPU.
What is the problem?

Could be a stuck switch, especially if it happened all of a sudden.

Also if you were inside the case recently check to see that all PCI cards and RAM sticks are properly seated, that all the wires are correctly connected...

Need more INPUT Number 5. As well as your system, it would be nice to know if something was added/happened recently and if you are confident enough to try some troubleshooting with a sledgehammer/meter... :eek:

You could try disconnecting the 'power on' switch, then plugging it in to see if it happens. I had a board that the opposite was occuring. I eventually had to short the power on wires and live without the switch entirely. It was a fault in the 'AT' (not atx) motherboard. I just use an AC Power Strip now on that 'machine', (my 'emergency backup/spare/experimental/guinea pig/sacrificial lamb') pc. Other than that it's like a Timex watch. Still takin' a Lickin' an' keepin' on tickin'. :D

I use it only when I feel like (or have to) walk(ing) beside(s) an oxen drawn cart though... ;)

Remotely, it might be that your power supply is stuck on, or your motherboard is shorted in that area but try the switch first.

mjc, I owe you one of those 'you know trout thingies' on 'mirc' for not leaving this prob to some of the younger members climbing the ranks that feel they want to contribute to some of the less techie 'questions'. It took you 16 minutes to reply. Heck, it sometimes takes me longer than that to DECIDE!!! LOL :)

Meanwhile I'm shootin' err, fishin' for a lunker... or 2... or 3... might even enlist help... (finally gonna have the time, YEAH!)
